March 3, 2010

Wow, I just realized that I have basically lost 2 years of my life to Lyme. I was just diagnosed by a wonderful (but not Lyme literate) internist in Murfreesboro, TN yesterday. I went from doctor to doctor to no avail. I started to think I was crazy...and so did my family, I am sure. Well, my mind has been eased and I feel as if I am not idling but moving forward.
It was very frustrating to explain to doctors that yes, indeed, I did have a bulls-eye rash at one point a few years ago with terrbile flu-like symptoms and joint issues, but I never sought help. I just thought I was sick and that I would get over it. Well, it got better and life went on. About a year later I came down with TERRBILE, AWFUL, PAINFUL neurological and physcial symptoms that changed my whole core as a person. I will NEVER be who I was. I was at Vanderbilt in Nashville and my husband mentioned that it might be Lyme and the Neuro doc said "no, definately not." And that was that. I was sent down another road...MS, CFS, ME, Fibormyalgia, POTS, inner ear issues, anxiety, it's all in my head....... Yeah right.
Well, now I have a diagnosis thank you soooo much to Igenex lab. I had only a few bands show up from Labcorp but not enough to secure a diagnosis. Igenex labwork showed 6 bands! I could bet my last few paychecks on a Lyme diagnosis....but I had no takers! I would have given it away too, silly fools!

So, I am off to pick up a month's worth of Doxycycline and make an appointment with a lyme literate doctor...if I can find one!
